About Cover Story

We started Cover Story when we were expecting our daughter. Like a lot of new parents, we wanted to keep screen time small for her. If we’re honest, we wanted to keep it smaller for ourselves too. But we also knew our phones weren’t going anywhere.

So we started sketching the thing we actually wanted. Something bright and high-contrast for the very beginning, when our daughter’s eyes were still learning to see and bold shapes were genuinely good for her. And something quieter for later, a grown-up looking book she wouldn’t be tempted to reach for the second we picked it up. Either way, it had to be an object we’d be happy to leave out on the living room table, not a gadget we wanted to keep out of sight.

That turned into the Newborn and Classic editions: the same book inside, two exteriors for two different stages. It’s the small, considered thing we wished we’d had. Now it’s the one we use every day.

Cover Story is made by Retail Opportunity LLC. We fulfill every order by hand from our home in San Francisco, where we live with our daughter.
